I prefer assessing partner's work because I find it hard to judge myself incase I over level myself. I think it improves your work because you can look at the mistakes you have made and learn from them. The best way of assessing, I think, is using 2 stars and a wish.

Ashley

I think it is easier to mark my partner's work. It improves my work to know what to do better so I do it. Two stars and a wish works best for me.

scott

I find it easier to mark my own work than a friends. It improves my work because if someone else marks it they might put a bad comment that you might not agree with.

Gemma

I like doing 2 stars and wish because you get to assess your friend's work and help them improve! I prefer marking a partner's work because when marking your own, you sometimes don't mark accurately.

Ollie

I think it is good to have the assessment. I think it is easier to mark someone else's work than your own because it is quite hard to say things about your own work.

connor

I think all of them are good. I find assessing a friend's work is easier. I think it improves your work because you know how to improve. I find 2 stars and a wish easier to assess.

Yasmine

I think the peer and self assessment is a great way for us to see what we have done well and what we need to do to improve. I like the thumbs up method and the two stars and a wish method. I don't really like the give me five method though. P.S I like this blog!!!

Tash

I feel that the use of the tick list ladder is a good thing. If you are uncertain about a topic the list and comments help you to understand and improve the content of your work. I feel that marking your partner's work can also give you ideas and information that you haven't already used yourself. The use of the tick ladder is the one I prefer for the self assessment.

Katie

What do you find easier to assess - your own or your partner's work? I find my partner's work easier because on your your own work you think you have done well. Do you think it improves your work? Yes How? because you can learn from what your partner says. What ways of self assessment work best for you? I think it works best for me when someone that you don't really get on with that much peer assesses your work because you can tell them to improve whereas you say no improvements on your friend's work.

charlie

I find marking a partner's work easier because saying negative things about your own work is hard, two stars and a wish is easier to do.

beth

I like peer assessing other people's work because it shows me what I should have done. I am not really used to using the high 5 or the thumbs up methods because I have never heard of them but they sound good (excellent blog Mrs B!!!!!!!!!!)

Megan

What do you find easier to assess - your own or your partner's work? I find my partners work easier to assess because I can mark it more equivalent. Do you think it improves your work? Yes How? Yes because you can sometimes learn much more on your partner's work. What ways of self assessment work best for you? I suppose the best way is to do self assessing online or out of school because you don't get distracted by what your friends put.

Lauren

I think it helps my RE work because I am doing a tick list ladder for a partner and I find it easier to mark someone else's work than my own.

Aimee

I find it easier to do two stars and a wish whilst marking my partner's work. It is easier than trying to evaluate my own performance. I also prefer my partner to assess my work.

Maya

I find it easier to assess my partner's work. It improves my work in some ways as I then know what to do and what not to do in my work. 2 stars and a wish works best for me.

lauren

I find it easier to assess my partner's work because I can tell them what they need to do to improve it and what they have done wrong. Two stars and a wish is the best thing for me!!

Eleanor

I find it easier to assess your partner’s work, rather than your own, because when you have to assess your own work, you can’t spot anything that you could improve because you think the whole piece of work is good. My favourite two ways of assessing your partner’s work are:

1. The tick ladder, because it is easy and simple to complete.
2. The ‘Two stars and a wish’ method because it doesn’t take up to much space on the back of a persons work and is simple to complete.

Jake

I think that looking at your partner's work is better than your own because I can't mark my own work in case I over level myself and give myself a level I haven't earned.

Abbie

I think it is easier to mark your friend's work. If you mark your own it is harder because you like the work you have completed. I think it is good to have your work marked because then you know how to improve and better than that it come from your friends!!

tom

I find it very useful to find out what you need to do to improve your work from a partner's point of view, who has done the same work as you.

Leah

I like using two stars and a wish because you get to assess your friend's work not just your own. I prefer marking a friend's assesment because if you mark your own you might want a good mark so you might tick things off that you don't have. I prefer to do self assesments online because this way you won't copy what your friend has put.

Jake

What do you find easier to assess - your own or your partner's work? I like assessing my partner's work because sometimes people can be biased...Do you think it improves your work? yes...How? because it tells you what you've done wrong. What ways of self assessment work best for you?

Naomi

I think its easier to mark your partner's work because you can give your own opinion. I think it will improve our work because your partner can show you what you need to improve on instead of you missing it out. The thing I like about the self and peer assessment is that you can work with a partner.

Susan

It's great to read these positive comments about peer and self assessment! I am writing my Masters on using different Assessment for Learning strategies with Key Stage 4 pupils ... I think next year I will need to try out the "two stars and a wish", which my sister uses successfully with Key Stage 3 pupils in Scotland.

I wish I could get my pupils to use my RE blog the way all of you are posting on this blog! Keep up the great (and encouraging!) work!
